As a former dealer I can see the issue of a potential straw-purchaser. That's a valid reason to question someone. I think they should've just been upfront about it, though. It's pretty common for women to buy for a prohibited husband/boyfriend. And it's also pretty easy to figure out if it's legitimately for the woman with a few questions. But if someone says the gun is actually for them and there's no real reason to doubt the story, sell it.

Straw purchase makes sense. One of those stories where it would have been easier to tell the truth than to make up a lie about the gun being too big for the woman. They must be hiring liberal politicians at wal mart.
