    Default Russian Ammo

Hey.... sorry about all the noob posts, but Is it alright to use Russian made ammo in the M4 I just bought? The salesman who sold it to me said that it contained some kind of salt. I can't rember if he told me not to use it at all, or just clean the gun more frequently. Some Russian ammo I've looked at says "100% non-corrosive" on it, but I still don't know if it is a wise idea... Anybody have any insight??? Thanks for all the help so far... I've picked up alot from the site...

whats the headstamp date ? the older stuff mostly the 7.62x39, 7.62x54 and milsurp 8mm was corrosive. all i did after shooting corrosive was go home spray the bores and bolts down with ammonia window cleaner let it sit 5 min rinse with hot water then do a normal cleaning. never had any issues.
i haven't seen any "corrosive" .223 in years who's the mfg, of this russian ammo if its wolf then no. or for that matter any .223 ammo. with the psycotic ammo buying frenzy i seriously doubt that there has been any corrosive .223 in the country for years

I know of no corrosive .223 that was ever available here.
Now on to shooting steel cased ammo in it.

Some have no problem, some have issues. The line seems to be this. If it is a chrome lined chamber in 5.56 then you might be able to get away with it. If it is an unlined .223 chamber you may have trouble. I have seen case rims ripped off of wolf.

You just have to try and see if your gun will like it.

I am one of those who has never had a problem with Wolf (9mm, .45, 7.62x39, 5.56). Not the most accurate stuff in the world, but for the price, it won't be. No dirtier than mil-surp either.

    My 2 cents.
