    Default Tax Experts,

I should be able to write off at least part of My foot next year. Or, not?

you can deduct the medical charges, providing they were a certain percentage of your income.

    Medical deductions are fucked up.

If I recall correctly you need to be itemizing your deductions, then medical expenses are one of the things you can itemize - but only a percentage of the medical expense amount and then only if it reaches a certain threshold (some percentage of your income)

    Sucks.

You can only deduct medical charges that exceed 7% (could be 7.5%, but I think it's 7) of your AGI (adjusted gross income) and of course, only if you itemize.
The trick is to do all your medical stuff in one year, so it forces it over that 7% magical number.
