So, which orientation is which (are the Hatfields the libs, or the conservatives?...)

I would generally say shooters are the Hatfields since Devil Anse pretty much beat Ole Randall by any score you'd want to keep (wealth, longevity, family members protected, etc.). If it DOES come to open warfare as Zundfolge speculates, I'll take shooters over non-shooters any day of the week. ;-)
