You can't gate on the defense too much. Anytime a team gives up FOUR turnovers in a quarter and the defense manages to hold it to a 10pt turn around you have to give them credit. That defense spent a LOT of time on the field last night because the offense didn't do them any favors so I won't fault them for last night's game at all. I would like to see them get off the field on 3rd down (going back to last week too) but we're talking about one of the best 3rd down teams in the league who is just handed the ball 4 times to start the game. The amount of time the defense was forced to spend on the field in the 1st half is just recipe for disaster so I will give credit where credit is due for keeping the Falcons to 10pts on four turnovers. The fact that Denver still had a chance to win it near the end speaks to the work the defense did with that disaster they were handed. They got off when they needed to down the line and Denver had an opportunity late which is rare in a -4 turnover game. Losses suck but I will take this one early in the season on a team that was riding a little too high after week 1 IMO. This will force them ALL to work harder, watch more tape and concentrate more from here on out. Hell, even after all of that plus being on the road they only lost by 6 so no reason to hang their head. No injuries and it wasn't a blowout. 1-1 with half of the league in a horrible division isn't reason to give up on them by any stretch of the imagination.
We STILL have Peyton Manning!
Tell me about it! I just finally acquired this year's tag the other day so now they likely won't win another game this season. You can blame me.![]()
