    Default Tweaker Hours

Man started a job last night in the Cherry Creek Mall. We're allowed to work from 10:30 at night till 6:00 in the morning. Got home made the kid lunch and taking him to school. I can't wait to get back home and go to bed. I hope this is the first and last time I ever work nights. I have about 2,000 more brick to lay. Maybe two more nights.....ehh don't like these tweaker hours. I take my hat off to you guys who work shift work. I prefer to rise and fall with the sun.

I was security guard, did overnight for like a year.

(Then there was that month+ where my schedule was: 7a-3p, 11p-7a, 3p-11p, reset. I think I had 2-3 days off in that period. It was crazy but I made a ton of cash.)

It can be rough. Roughest are when you get into a nocturnal cycle and you go get your groceries at 1am.

Worked security guard shift from 7 p.m.-3 a.m. for awhile. Talk about screwing up the body clock

The funny part.. I spent 10 years working 1a-10a.. then went to a regular 8-5ish.. I don't think I woke up ONCE in the first 4 weeks w/o having about 3 different alarm clocks set... work was understanding to a point..

So you guys who did security.. are you going to regale us with stories of the stuff that security can do..

I did graves in the winter of 99-2000, working at Kmart from 2200 to 0600, then going to my day job here from 0700-1800. Go home, sleep a few hours, rinse and repeat. You do what you have to to make ends meet, but it was easier then...

Worked night shift in the TOC in A'Stan, 1900-0700- a lot of times it would run over well into 0900 if we had outgoing patrols that I had to brief. Then when I did BDOC ECP ASOG (whew that's a lot of acronyms) I worked from 1430-0030, now that will really mess up your clock!

    Glossary:
ASOG- Assistant Sergeant Of the Guard
    BDOC- Base Defense Operation Center
    ECP- Entry Control Point
    TOC- Tactical Operations Center

I miss working nights. I like it beacuse you can get things done during the
day you normally couldnt if you worked normal hours.
I also loved that the boss wouldnt bother you and leave you to your own motivation
to get work accomplished. I even slept better, I would go to bed around 0900-1000
and get up on my own around 1700 and go to work at 1830 until 0500

The "Witching" hour from 0300 to 0430 was the absolute worst. It drug out and that
was when Id get sleepy if it was a slow night. I was on night from 2001 to 2004.

When I worked security at an acute care hospital in Denver (just east of Downtown) we had a crackhead bang on the door once after visiting hours were over (the doors were locked)- all he wanted was a soda, I told him to go away. After he refused I told him to go away or I would call the cops. He went away. Wooo! That was so exciting!
