Default Big dumb question of the day.

Gents, as the title says this is likely a really dumb question.

So I just recently moved here from Southern California. Has been a long time goal for my wife and I to get here, and having a new little girl just made that goal more of an immediate necessity.

So that being said, I've lived in So Cal most of my life. I had a nice man-cave in the garage like many of us do (where else can I go to hide from my wife). I'm currently in the process of insulating and dry walling my new garage with the intent of making a nicer, improved workshop etc.

I will be keeping my safe in the garage bolted to the floor. The safe is fire insulated and I have a Golden Rod in the safe. My fear is that when I open the safe during the winter the guns in it may develop condensation due to the slightly elevated temperature from the Golden Rod. Is this any sort of possibility, or am I just inventing things to worry about?

Any info, experiences, fixes, or other advice would be greatly appreciated.

Heat the garage. Every man cave needs a fire.

The Golden Rod will easily counteract any vapor moisture that may make it into the safe when it is open.
Your not in California anymore, winter in CO is usually pretty dry humidity wise.
While heating the garage sounds like a solution don't forget that colder air will hold less moisture than warm air will.
Throw a couple of 1# cans of silica dessicant in the safe if it bothers you.
Really about the only time you really have a worry in CO is if you run a swamp cooler or have a damp basement.

Damn BP you gotta heat the man cave. Mine has floor heat. Microwave, fridge, beer thingy, sometimes a bar but usually the guys suck it all up. we were going to put in a pool table and brass pole, maybe this year.

Don't be parking any snow / slush packed cars in the garage during the winter, the melt off from a heated garage will have the humidity up to tropical levels. And when the slush drys out, there will be mag-chloride and salt residue that will become airborne and cause rust and corrosion.
You should see what mag-chloride does to aluminum and electrical connection.... Bad stuff.
