At the time the Officer did not know what the object was that was being waved at him. He perceived a threat and acted on it. Well done.

I certainly hope tese are just jokes in bad form, because any one of us would probably do the same thing in a similar situation.
While hey are rare, when I have an encounter with an LEO, I always open my hands wide and keep them away from my body to avoid any perception I'm a threat to the officer. It's kept me alive so far.

Agreed. Appropriate actions by the LEO to an unfortunate situation.
One has the power to change their actions, but not always their situation. Therefore, my opinion is that the LEO did right.
