You'd be surprised. Same thing for using prep H on other areas for wounds etc.

    yeppers, vagisil is it.
My cat used to get ear infections all the time and as you see it's $100 every time to go to the overpriced vet. She says use vagasil and be careful because it's harsher than the vet stuff but it's teh same stuff.

    works fine. $7

I used alcohol, borax, and mineral oil. But I don't see why Vagisil wouldn't work. Just let us know when you are going to go buy it so we can stand in line and point and giggle.

Vagisil is good for bitches with itches!

Seriously though-it will work fine. Just don't uses too much and if you want a more natural approach use coconut oil. Also a teaspoon of coconut oil daily is a good thing, it is has natural antibiotic properties.
Check the dogs diet as well, remove all chicken from the dogs diet. All Chicken! Treats, snacks etc! Something about the chicken can exasperate the issue plus quite a few dogs develop an allergy to chicken which can manifest in odd ways.
Does the dog exhibit any other skin issues such as hot spots?

Dad was a Veterinarian and the Mrs manages an all natural, holistic pet "Boutique".(only way I can afford the "good stuff")
You would be amazed just what effect diet has on a domestic animal, they are much more sensitive to it than we are.
My wife has relayed to me a couple of instances where vets have essentially given up on an animal due to diabetes. With a change of diet (and sticking to it) they have been able to virtually eliminate the diabetes.
Skin problems, eye problems, joint issues and such can all be addressed through diet and quite often with astounding results.
