You should consider the NRA Personal Protection courses. They have two. Personal Protection in the Home, and the new Personal Protection Away from Home. Both require the basic handgun course as a pre-req., and if the instructor does it right, will have a pre-course shooting evaluation.
Both teach basic defensive shooting skills, as well as the legal liabilty section.
Also, if you look at www.coloradoshooting.org, which is the parent to this site, you'll find a training page with a list of instructors. I'll be updating that page in the next couple of days, or as time allows.
I'm at work, so I don't have anything with me, but there are several schools in the metro area that teach what you're looking for.
