A motorcycle forum I'm on has rides every now and again starting in the Greeley or Ft Collins area & going up to the hills. It's a mix of bikes and there is no pressure to exceed your comfort zone (actually you are encouraged to not ride outside your comfort zone & to be safe), everybody rides to their ability, enjoys the ride and has a great time.
I've only made one ride, but it was a great ride with some great people!!!

You know, wheelies, those front brake wheelie things, driving a thousand miles an hour, whipping in and out of traffic, no regard for safety of self or others, etc. "Riding like a moron". Pretty self-explanatory. Typical crotch rocket+teenager stuff.
i'm up in windsor and i'd ride down to your area . 100 miles is a normal putt for me. .
i'm not much of a weekend mountain rider, as i don't do well with the brake on turns, slow down for the squirrel cagers.
of course i could load a few guns up and come down to assist in some small game eradication
Gear has nothing to do with how you ride. The last time I rode with a group of guys on crotch rockets I was really not impressed with the wheelies, stopies (spelling?) and all the other reckless stupid crap they pulled. The ride only lasted about ten miles for me and I turned off and left them.
If they wan't to kill themselves like so many of them do that is fine. I just would rather not be standing on the side of the road explaining it to the cops while I watch the EMT's scrape them up off the road. Not to mention I really get upset when a moron thinks he is cute riding up next to me in a wheelie. I have over 30K invested in my Harley and don't wish to get taken out by some moron.
It's bad enough to have to really watch out for cars I don't need to also worry about watching out for who I am riding with.

for .45 cents at radio shack you buy a little resistor (75,000 ohm) if I recall correctly, solder it in your gear pos. sensor wire, or go to ebay and buy a plug and play model. and that little problem is solved. or just buy a 1000 punch it out to 1070 cc's add nitrous and some cam's lower it and play with the overweight 1200 cc + bikes thats what I did. after having 2 hayabusas ( both 1999 non nutered) models. I even put 600 cc stickers on it and take her to the local dragstrip and play with the kids sometimes. ETA: pics below
before 600 stickers
