I have a Scottrade account. I put a little bit here and there in it and buy what strikes my fancy. Mostly dividend producing stocks, which slowly increase my money in it to buy more stocks.

For retirement long-term stuff I would recommend checking into many options and being very very careful. I have a friend who handles most of this sort of thing for me.

I unfortunately have 3 TDAmeritrade, because I had one when it was Ameritrade. Around 1999, I changed it to Datek. Datek and Ameritrade merged.
Around 2003, I opened another one due to promotion.

eTrade, and Scottrade is a good discount online brokerage.

I like TDAmeritrade, because I can watch CNBC and CNBC europe/asia on their trading platform.

Forex trade fairly popular among European. Good trade platform.

If I were you, I would probably open an account that has a special promotions. If you decide to goto different account, you can always open many Money Market Account anytime.

I use Trade King. L-O-V-E it. Call, and you actually get to talk to a real person. $4.95 flat rate on trades is freaking awesome. Been with '
em since 2007. Even made a little $

I'd appreciate any tips to a commodities brokerage that works similar to Scottrade.
