I use FXCM for Forex trading, no longer actively trade stocks.
For retirement long-term stuff I would recommend checking into many options and being very very careful. I have a friend who handles most of this sort of thing for me.
I use Scottrade for buying/selling stocks. I like it, it's easy enough for my simple mind to figure out.

I have a Scottrade account. I put a little bit here and there in it and buy what strikes my fancy. Mostly dividend producing stocks, which slowly increase my money in it to buy more stocks.
