    Default Rock Island 1911

Does anyone know of a local shop that happens to carry these 1911's? I have been looking at them and from what I read, they are good to go For the price. Have not been able to locate one local so I can take a look at it. One other question, I am new to 1911's. I was wondering if the RIA 1911's can be upgraded? Meaning, can you put new trigger assemblies in them, match barrels etc...I think I read that most 1911 parts fit, but not sure. Any input would be appreciated, and have a gret day

Thats a great price. You know if they are compatible with most 1911's?

Big R Farm and Ranch in Elizabeth carries RIA's, I've bought two there.

5280 Armory has them. So does Green Mountain Guns.

I have a GI model that has a bunch of WWII Colt parts on it. The RIA is essentially the same as a Series 70 Colt. No wierd parts.

All standard 1911 parts interchange. First thing is ash can the stock extractor, they won't hold correct tension for very long.
I have worked a few up that became really nice pistols.
The big thing is economics. By the time and money to doll them up you can buy a Springy or Colt.
For some it is easier to drop a bill or two here and there than to drop the mass cash for a higher teir item.
    Decent for the money.
