There's a liquid (Can't remember the name) available at Lowe's or Home Depot that you can get. Best way to do it is if you have enough of a trunk to drill a hole in, and pour in the liquid; this gets it into the system and kills it from inside. Or if you're close to a nursery like Paulino's in Aurora or that big one over off I-25 near 58th near the DOW, go talk to them and they can give you recommendations.

    Default Pull them out

Best to do it after a rainstorm when the soil is damp.
The cost of Roundup is a waste on killing Elm. Have to apply to many times.
Other stuff may harm your soil for growing a garden.
I wish to know who imported the Elms we have in Colorado. I'd piss on his grave.

Drive a copper rod into them. Something in the breaking down of the copper inside of them, kills them. Worked on all of mine at my old place.

i've got wire scraps and a drill, i'll give it a shot.

These are growing in areas I don't care about gardening, like between my sidewalk and my neighbors driveway under the fence, along the curb, at the foundation to the house.... Concrete is covering their roots.

Get it as far in there as you can. I chopped each of them down in my yard, or one of their major branches, drilled a hole, and then beat the rods into the stump. That was all it took.
