I think I'd figure out exactly what agency this "Officer guy" is with (should be able to figure that out from the ticket), and then find out exactly where the range is located, city/county-wise. Then go from there.

The way I read the law (and the way it's explained on the RMGO website) is that it's OK to possess either the gun or the over-21 round mags, but not both together.
Something just isn't adding up with the OP.

I'll vouch the OP is a good dude. Details would be nice though.
The guy was a officer of Denver police. I always thought the Cherry Creek State Park is part of Arapahoe County, maybe i was wrong, maybe they got a new regulation.
I always know it's a bad idea to have a mag over 20 round in Denver, the suburb south of Denver is frequented by Denver PD a lot, not sure if they have jurisdiction there.

CC Range is in Arapahoe County. I have been their many times with 30rd mags. I think you may just have run into a rookie or a "duddly-do-right". Bummer, hope you get em back.
