"There is a member here, I won't name him....he will out himself I am sure, tha doesn't know who John Elway is. I felt bad for him"
Unfortunately, in my experience, many if not most of the people who do know who John Elway is do NOT know anything about matters of real substance, like the actual language and meaning of the Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence. Of course, the powers that be rather prefer it that way.
It is truly tragic that people allow themselves to be consumed and diverted by such trivia as spectator 'sports'. I believe that Jefferson had it right when he advise his nephew to avoid 'games with the ball', since they indeed 'stamp no character on the mind'. The Romans and the Nazis both encouraged sports to divert their subject populations from the evils being perpetrated by those governments. A bunch of 'men' cheering for overpaid louts playing a kids' game while their own kids' future is being stolen is something I find truly appalling. They are not men; real men do not shirk their duty to their posterity in such a fashion.
I don't feel bad that someone doesn't know who John Elway is; rather that people actually give a rat's ass about who John Elway is.
