Why is it always the expensive BMWs? A VW can do the job just as well!

Almost any 4-wheel vehicle can bring down an elk with sufficient speed.

However, to ensure survivability of the driver and passengers, ballistic glass needs to be employed. Otherwise, goring from antlers entering through the windshield is possible or the entire carcase can enter the cab at high speed thereby crushing the occupants. Obviously, this would foil any plot by the driver to dispatch the elk without casualties occurring to those within.

If ballistic glass is not attainable, an F150 or larger is recommended.

    Chicks love horses...

I'm with Ridge- plenty of Elk are killed with 4 wheels, don't need caliber.

A K1200LT would certainly bring down an elk, but I don't want to be the hunter. Doing it with 2 wheels is more sporting...like archery season, but different.

Are you implying my car is a girl's car? You're probably right- chicks do love my beemer... and I have a 3-series, I think it would sustain quite a bit of damage, but the elk would surely be dead... I can't say what is optimal, but I would say don't try and use a Smart car...
