    Default Insurance RANT

A few years ago I was exiting my Trailblazer during a high CO wind day. My drivers door was ripped out of my hands and folded against the front fender. I was able to close it and hold it closed long enough to get it to a body shop. Called my insurance and got it taken care of. Though I had to take it back three times to get it close to something acceptable. Finally got sick of taking it back and just let it be a bit windy.

Well, about two weeks ago it started having issues opening. It would take a bit of force to open it. Then that went away and it started rubbing on the front quarter panel. So I called my insurance company and told them I was taking it back in (lifetime warranty on all repairs). The body shop told me that it had nothing to do with the first repair they did. Nope, the hinges would not have been an issue. It wasn't listed as part of the repair on the paperwork, and they didn't keep records of the three comebacks.

So my insurance has decided to side with the body shop and not with their customer. Fuck you USAA. You are going to lose a customer over this. I will get you to fix the door and then I will drop you like a bag of moldy tangerines. Especially when the agent told me that metal that gets flexed does not get weaker. Really? You ignorant bastard. Try that with some mouth breather, I know if you bend metal it weakens the metal. Cocksucking jackass. Then when I ask if he could send me the pictures from the first damage and repair and the second ones he replied "No, you have to go to the body shop to get those." I asked if he had them and yes he does, just not going to give them to me. The fuck? Screw you USAA.

By the way, this is what my door looked like. Only with wind, not a car wash.

Best way to get in to see me at the shop is to call or email Shannon and make an appointment.

The lifetime warranty is for their work, not the parts. The issue is the time between the repairs and the new issues. Personally, I think you have a legitimate claim because what the door is doing is beyond normal wear and tear. If you're going to drop them, just be prepared for exactly the same treatment anywhere else you go.

Insurance whether auto or health insures nothing, no outcome is guaranteed. They would be better called policy companys although that is also a misnomer. Counterparty risk is high as you discovered. If you are a member of a pre paid legal service have them send a letter see if you can bluff them into a deal.

I disagree about auro insurance. Your policy very specifically explains what is, and is not covered.
