Actually I think it was more of an issue of they couldn't risk their leftist hipster connections (keeping in mind that the neighborhood they're in was rated the "hippest hipster neighborhood in America" by Forbes Mag).

Again, I don't blame them for not wanting to be a campaign stop, but I don't think I'd have refused either campaign flatly. The smarter way to go would have been to tell the campaign "You're welcome to eat here, but please no press or campaigning".

But hey, hindsight is 20/20 and the guy's a restauranteur, not a PR/Marketing guy.

So let me get this strait. The Family does something great every year by feeding the homeless on Thanksgiving but gets smeared by people on this forum because he didn't want his business and family to be part of the political agenda? Who are the bigots again?

Hell, I may have to look the place up and go eat there, just to shake the owner's hand for having the balls to stand up and say NO, instead of grovelling at some politician's feet like so many lap dogs are dying to do.

I'm about ready to do the same... May not agree with a person's views but if they try to the right thing for the community, well...

If i did not eat somewhere because of their politics, i would never eat in most restaurants in Ft Collins and the surrounding areas.
Hell i'd probably starve to death, IF i did not know how to cook.

West 33rd off of Zuni. Some of the best mole I've ever eaten. Good green chili too.

A good community citizen gets crucified because they don't want to play politics. Sad really.

What entails having a candidate "drop in" for a meal? Security, perimeters, food checks, staff checks, displacing the regulars, the media, the entourage, etc... I wouldn't want any part of it either.
