how about restaurants serve whoever the hell wants to come eat there? id serve obama no problem. the guy is a customer like anyone else. you don't think you serve tons of rabid republicans and democrats daily? shoot, the way you be apolitical is to just serve anyone with no questions asked.

Actually I think it was more of an issue of they couldn't risk their leftist hipster connections (keeping in mind that the neighborhood they're in was rated the "hippest hipster neighborhood in America" by Forbes Mag).
Again, I don't blame them for not wanting to be a campaign stop, but I don't think I'd have refused either campaign flatly. The smarter way to go would have been to tell the campaign "You're welcome to eat here, but please no press or campaigning".
But hey, hindsight is 20/20 and the guy's a restauranteur, not a PR/Marketing guy.
