Check out Costco, they usually have some great deals on safes.

    This is excellent advice.

As far as fire ratings go, unless you have some very valuable, unreplaceable pieces I wouldn't worry too much about it. That's what insurance is for. If you lose everything in a fire replacing those firearms is way down on your list of things to do.

I have a liberty, it works great and has a 60 min. rating, I went manual as opposed to a electric lock, I like the confidence of knowing my batteries wont be dead at the wrong moment. link below.

Get removable doors if it's an option. Safes are heavy. Mine will probably go with the house.

when seconds count....Manual locks can take a minute

I went electric, the battery is changed every 6 months whether it needs it or not

I have no concerns that I will not be able to get into it if needed.

This comment has merit. If your home is newer and built with TJIs, the engine crew will fight the fire from the outside, as this type of framing is prone to quick collapse once fire gets to it.

Large safes are for storing Imho not for defense, the gun vault next to my bed, strategically placed weapons throught the house as well as practicing are for that. If you have to run to your safe room it's to late already I believe.
