I have a friend that is attempting to restore a family vehicle, problem is the car has 3/4 tank full of leaded gas. I told him to burn it, but what is the right way to dispose of gas?
TIA

We pour it into the waste oil barrel here at the shop, per the recycler. The one caveat would be that it can't have any chlorinated hydrocarbons(TCE, PCE) in it, or it will make the waste oil hazmat, which is stupidly expensive to get rid of.

Ahhhhh what a shame wasting gas!
Call the EPA and tell them that if they really want to protect the environment, they better come get this leaded gas before it gets poured on the ground and contaminates the water. Tell them to do it for the children. After all, you pay for the agency, shouldn't they actually do something for you?

Cut open a steel 55 gallon drum by removing the top. Pour in a gallon at a time. Stand away and throw in a lit match. Or put it on Craigslist and somebody will take it. If it is less than six months old, put it in another vehicle.

Am I correct in assuming that this vehicle has not been running in 20 years and the gas in that tank is about that old? If it hasn't been stabilized that gas will have broken down and may not even be usable.
