    Thanks.
That's too bad. Sounds like we owe him a lot.

I didn't know Eddie all that well. Just from BS'ing during the AR matches I attended. I don't think I'll ever forget him grabbing a six foot bull snake trying to slither through the course while some guy was shooting and running from obstacle to obstacle during the match. Cracked me up. The guy shooting had no clue as to what was going on behind him. Had to be one of the funniest things you'll ever see at a match.

What a great guy, our thoughts are with him, his family, and his friends.

Man! Could he shoot that he-man stuff!!!!

Awesome match today, weather was great and I shot OK.... #3 and #9 dogs were pretty well hidden in the grass from my vantage point which made it more realistic and more fun. Now, if I could just have the good sense to not set up a prone position below my buddy who dropped lots of hot brass on me, I'd be in good shape!

Thanks Hoser for putting the match on. I really enjoyed myself today.

    Default Scopes and technique

I'm with Hoser that generally the 2-12 or 3-15 or 4-16 scopes of decent quality nail the majority of tac LR matches that we encounter. Read Zak's articles on tac LR -- he's a big proponent of "less is better" for specific reasons (well thought out, imo) but generally shoots exceptional quality glass (S&B, Zeiss/Hen., PremReticle). www.demigodllc.com
I use a PR 3-15 (with the Gen 2 XR reticle). For the Tac LR matches, having some hold over/windage demarks in the reticle are key. Std MilDot, S&B P4F, etc. are all good options.

PDog matches: OK, I will admit that I yearn for some more mag at this match. The 425 yd shots look like titmice at 15x. When I've looked through Hoser's 5-25 S&B, and I dial to the mag that "I like" I'm usually around 17-18x. Is 15x through great glass a handicap on this size target? Too strong of a statement although I often wish I had marginally more mag. I definitely wouldn't want to be dialing the zoom from shot to shot though. Getting the elevation dialed and re-positioning for good technique & wind correction is enough to worry about between shots (for me).

Observation: just because you have some mondo zoom range, doesn't mean you have to use it. I can't imagine wanting/needing to dial past 15x for 100 yd shots. I do the SnipersHide Dot Test (look it up if you don't know it -- great technique drill) adequately at 15x.
And, if you're seeing huge heartbeat effects at any range, there's something in your set up that likely needs to be tweaked.
    All, IMHO, of course.

Shooting the match with a 3.5 power scope? That takes guts.

    See you there.

Default PD match 18 Sep 10

Today's match was once again a great match. Thanks to everyone for helping me out in Hoser's absence. Hope it was as smooth as Hoser's presence.

I don't know what it was with targets 4 & 5 but I only hit #4 once and never hit #5. #6 at 425 is always tough for me with my AR so no mystery there.

Weather was great and the winds were their usually degree of difficulty.

I sent Hoser the scores so will will be able to sent them out when he gets time.

Again I want to thank everyone for helping, it made the match a success.

    Dino
    will work for:
    bullets primers & brass

    XTR II 4 x 20 SCR
    XTR II 5x25 SCR
    XTR II 3x15 SCR
    XTR III 5.5x30 SCR
