anyone pickup XCOM yet?

Came out like the night of the 8th. Do yourself a favor, if you have a decent gaming PC, go steam when possible for games. Way more convenient, better CS etc.

Recently had a shitty game advertised to me as being same as Mount and Blade, luckily it had an early release beta kinda thing. Saw it for it what it was and steam refunded me the price. (Which I immediately put into xcom.)


As for game type, it's a kinda like turn based squad tactical game. In a kinda laughable way basically battle chess. You chose where to move or do whatever a guy, then the animation will play. If he runs across an enemy's overwatch area then the alien shoots at him. The hit/miss that kind of thing is based on a random dice roll vs a percentage created by circumstances. (Range/cover/etc.)

Can be a very tough brutal game. Requiring constant reloads or if playing hardcore potentially a very painful long time beating it if not requiring a complete restart due to being too far down and out.
