Trespassing is against the law, as is unlawful entry. Screw them.
    You are worrying over nothing.

No. Make sure she has her shots up to date.

Most importantly, make certain the burglar is charged.

I'm not a lawyer, but I believe every dog gets their first bite free. Under the circumstances you provided, your hound should be fine. You on the other hand can assume that you will be sued for medical, pain and suffering by the unfortunate criminal.

    Be safe.

A beware of dog sign helps with your liability. I know 3 dogs that have tested that by biting idiots who ignored the signs.

With a burglar who has unlawfully trespassed into your home it will be fine. Outside, on your property, within a fenced yard, it gets more questionable but still generally fine, especially if they are not a deliveryman or meter reader and are at least 18 years of age and have no lawful reason to be there.

Dogs generally get put down for running loose in the neighborhood biting random people.

Let the dog bite them.. then shoot them. Problem solved.

If you would like to defeat any lawsuit against your dog biting someone on your property.. I'm serious about this. Post a 'Beware of Dog' sign.. I'm not kidding about this.. I can't tell you how many dog bite cases we've had on private property.. the insurance company will literally send us a picture of the sign posted on the property.. take a date stamped pic as well..

It serves as notice for people not invited on your property. Now if you invite someone and your dog bites them that's a different story.

Wrong. The sign shows you have knowledge your dog might be viscous. Thus the warning. NO BEWARE OF DOG SIGNS!!!!!!
This puts the liability on you, Been there

If I'm home, I can guarantee any intruder will have far more serious problems to worry about than being bitten by my Jack Russels or Corgi.
