If you are having problems with your Genie system either the firmware hasn't been updated, you have bad wiring or fittings on the cable in your home or you have electrical issues in your house. The opposite of an electrical surge is known as a brown out. This is where the voltage drops instead of surges. if you have ever been sitting there and your lights dimmed for a second and then when back to normal this is a brown out. Brown outs will seriously fuck with electronics.

This is a bad fitting, see how the inner dielectric (white insulator) is not flush with the inside of the fitting? This will cause ghosting in regular TV signals and a plethora of issues in cable and satellite systems. Other possible issues, loose connectors, copper clad steel cable over long distances vs solid copper wire, barrel connectors that are not rated for the proper frequency responses. Other electrical system issues that will cause problems.. ground differentials (ground loops) in your electrical system.

Thanx for your input.. All of these issues have been addressed, it is most definitely a software issue. NEVER had these issues with DishNetwork.
