    Default Adventure Racing

The "boots" thread got me thinking a lot about adventure racing. I really like the premise of that race but 30 miles is going to be a little too much for me, currently anyways. I really want to register for something that will give me motivation to work out and train on a regular basis.

Anyone know of any good ones? I like the idea of a shooting/ obstacle race but I'm thinking I'm not likely to find something like that. How does someone get started in something like this? I assume the short 5K races are the best for a newb.

Thanks in advance for the help.

    You might check these out:

Lots of all types of racing here locally. Do a 5K and see how you do, with a little training of course. I have learned the hard way, read injuries, that you need a training plan to do well.

You shoud stay in tune with the Thunderbeast forum and Competition Dynamics (the TBAC supressor guys).

I R/O'd the one this last summer (w/ Banks) and I'll be registering for the one next year.

They have plans for shorter course along the same format.

Might look into C25k (Couch to 5k) or 5K101, both are 8 week programs to get you running a 5k in about 8 weeks. I am on Week 3 of the 5K101...
