Default Concealed Carry permit holder has negligent discharge at CU

    http://www.denverpost.com/breakingne...r&cref=twitter

The Post is calling it an "accident". I'm going to assume it's negligence, which is usually a good assumption in such cases.

Cue the shrill voices taking this incident and calling it proof that CC doesn't make you safer.

In non-firearm-related news, there were about 1000 automobile-related fatalities across the US last week (just a guess, but there's about 50k annually). I can't believe we allow those deathtraps on the roads.

I'd love to give the dip that allowed this to happen a piece of my mind. I'm going to avoid making assumptions but something wasn't kosher if he managed to have a negligent (there are no accidents) discharge and injuring two people.

I've never understood how anyone can have an "accident" with a firearm going off while carrying. It's either in a holster, or you have it out to use for self defense. Luckily there were no deaths in this incident, but it sure does add fuel to the fire for those saying that allowing concealed carry on campus puts people in danger instead of making it safer. It really sucks that those of us that are responsible and have fought for our rights regarding carrying can have one negligent person do something that could provide a specific example for the other side's argument.

Happened in the building across the parking lot from where my wife works. She noticed nothing out of the ordinary going on. Received an email from the campus Chief of Police about the incident the following Monday.
