    Default Ar-15

I am finally ready to get one, I am thinking one of Armalite uppers and LRB lower. Any opinions on such a build?

What do you want to do with it?

If you want an NM gun then sure buy that upper. But if you are not going to be shooting NM, then save your money and buy a different upper for a little cheaper that will also be chambered in 5.56.

Eventually, I'd love to do NM. Also, and pardon my ignorance, as I am very new to AR, but isn't it true that uppers are interchangeable, i.e., I could have a number of uppers and one lower for all of them?

That is a good price for the NM upper.
If you are not planning on shooting NM from the get go you might want to start off with a plain rifle or carbine.
If you are going to shoot NM make sure that upper has the NM sights. 1/4MOA adjustable is better then stock and what you would want. That add doesn't mention the sights at all.
With the lwoer you can do just fine with a stock A2 type lower, some folks prefer getting a trigger.
If you have any questions let me know.

While you may now think that one lower is enough for multiple uppers, the black rifle disease will soon set in and you will end up with more of both. Anytime there is an inequality between the number of uppers and lowers in the safe, they cry.

I heard that before, my friend even has a recording of them crying on his rack, says the wailing didn't stop until he got each one of the a lower. But I am sound sleeper, so I think I can handle it, and if not, oh well then, I'll piss off some liberals by having more complete rifles.

Pete, thanks for the good advise, I'll definitely keep that in mind when shopping for uppers.

It looks like right now it'll be exactly just a rifle.

have you considered buying a complete rifle, rather than buying different brand upper's and lowers for a first ar? alot of company's make complete rifles in a ton of different configs. bushmaster, dpms, and armalite just to name a few. imho for a first ebr it's a better option. thats just my .02 though.

Yes, of course, still considering it as an option.
