need some gmc help....

engine is a 454 tbi out of a 1994 gmc suburban

im changing the waterpump on the top of the pump there are two outlets, on the old pump the right one has a plug in it and on the left side there is a water outlet with a notch in the top(to screw it on)....well i broke the water outlet trying to take it off and i can not find one anywhere i dont know the proper term for it so thats probably the problem

also im assuming that there is a special tool to remove and instal them if someone could point me in the right direction to find both(preferably at autozone because i have a gift card there) i would really appreciate it!

Might be able to remove it with a plumbing tool. It is a big "Easy Out"
Use some PB Blaster on the stuck fitting and let it soak for 30 mins before you attempt to remove fitting.

Did the same thing on a 94 GMC pick up with a 350, it was a QD fitting in the top of the water pump for the heater hose.
Picked up both the pump and fitting at Checker / O'Reily . But that was like 7 or 8 years ago...

sweet! what did you use to install them? i just had a screw driver set in the notches but it broke the old one and i dont wanna break the new one

The QD came apart like it was supposed to with a little TLC, ( Torch, Leverage, Channel locks )

The fitting that threaded into the pump was so corroded that it crushed/broke when tried taking out of the bad pump. That is why I needed to replace it along with the bad pump.

Well, if its like the one I posted a picture of, you just use a socket. The old ones do tend to break since they are just made out of pot metal. Any auto parts store should have one since they break all the time.

Soak the fitting with tranny fluid if you don't have a good penetrant.
The only problem with the EasyOut tool shown-a pipe threaded fitting is relatively thin walled, as you try to loosen it it puts a bunch of force outward and this outward force can work against you and wedge it even tighter.
I have used this with great success:
Take a hacksaw blade or a 3 corner file and saw/file the walls of the fitting (from the inside) through to the top of the threads in 2 places 180 degrees apart.
It is a bit of an aggravation but not as much as breaking off the easy out in the fitting.
When you get the cuts made take a small chisel or what you may have and collapse the fitting in on itself.
Easy peasy, nice and easy.
