I keep pet snakes and they sometimes can get mites and No Pest strips kill them dead and dont harm you or the snakes. Don't know if bird mites are similar but its cheap and worth a try. I used to buy them at Safeway or King Soopers havn't had a problem in awhile but I am sure they are still available.

That isn't far from the truth, Byte. I've considered it over the last month.

Pulled down all of the abandoned bird nests near the house and burned them this evening.
Everything inside is covered in DE.
Re-sprayed the house perimeter and attic.

Now we wait.
