How about going to the nearest Yakima dealer and explaining your problem. I'll bet they have a key in stock that would fit or a master (the one that comes with a lock set to install the locks into the racks). I had a situation where I needed some additional locks but I wanted to match the keys for the ones I already had. I had the number so they just had to look through their inventory but there were only about four or five boxes they had to go through to find a match.

If the Yakima dealer there knows what he's doing, that's the best idea. They are correct in that there are a very limited number of keys for those racks. However, it may be more than they stock. Anyway.... if you don't really want to use a local locksmith for whatever reason, and you're in the Springs, I can get it off for you and get you the number from it. If I wasn't all packed up right now, I could have even made a kay. Karl.

ok, the pair of racks I have are the roof top channel types with the clamp that holds the down tube, made by Yakima

if you need them for the locks (I have keys) they're your's.... but you have to come get them at my house or work.

OK, road trip. You head to 7's place to pick up your spare parts, you slide by my place so we can take off the old one. My fee is more than fair, a Domino's deep dish and 2 liter bottle of Pepsi. Karl.

A friend has a master core key. But they have to be unlocked for the master to work. These are locked.

    oh, ok.

I took the locks off the racks last night and was going to offer them to you. but if you're not going to reuse the racks.. I'll find something else to do with 'em.

well, in lieu of a suitable amount of explosives, a sawsall or plasma cutter will do the job too
