Default Would You Buy From This Guy?

Here's a copy of part of his ad from Colorado Gun Market.

"Prospective buyers will need to provide a cashier’s check (no cash or personal checks, please), a photo copy of their Colorado Driver’s License, and a signed statement that they are legal to own a handgun in Colorado."

No way I would give him a copy of my drivers license. Buying a money order would suck if you got there and the gun was not as stated.

    I"m out!

I don't have any problems with his conditions. He probably wants a cashier's check so he doesn't have to worry about a wad of cash or having a personal check bounce and he wants to be sure he's selling to a responsible individual. I would probably tell him in advance that the driver's license copy he gets will have the address, DOB and other personally identifying information blanked out -- the police will be able to get that by checking records on the DL number if they need to.

I agree. I am always happy to sign a bill of sale if requested, but do not want my mailing address on the BOS. I'm happy to provide my CO-DL# or concealed handgun permit# so law enforcement can locate me if necessary, but some random individual could not. A money order or cashier's check seems to be more of a pain in the butt for both parties, so i'm not sure why he's demanding that too... He should just look at the cash and ensure it's not counterfeit if that's what he's worried about.

I never give out info that is not public record. You can do a lot of stuff with info on a DL.

Dealing with private parties I would do a simple BOS i.e. Name, that's about it.

I'd rather go through FFL over private BOS.

    From whom?

It's okay for little Jimmy to own a gun.

Is this for a used, NIB, $800 Glock?

There's a limit to how many hoops I'll jump through to buy something and that exceeds my limit.
