308 AR - DPMS or Sig???

I'll toss a vote for CMMG. (Oh, wait... that wasn't one of my choices, was it?)

The CMMG uses the DPMS pattern parts and Magpul mags. Skully has one and it shoots great. I'm in the middle of putting one together as we speak. Mine isn't a factory rifle so don't base your opinion off how mine looks....

I see you mentioned your winter project might be done faster than you think. You got the muzzle device, did you get the BCG and internals yet?


I went with a DPMS/SAR25 pattern due to cost and availability of parts out there. I have seen some pretty nice setups, but notice a lot of the 308 AR builders are going for long range precision, I must be the outcast with my idea of smaller, middle of the road theology.

Nope, I'm with you. I don't really need semi-auto for long range precision, I have my Rem 700 .308 for that. Bolt is fine because shots won't be rapid. And it has the 26" bull barrel, so won't be dragging that through the woods.

My DPMS LR308 is for penetration and putting rounds quickly downrange with minute of bad guy accuracy.

Now if Magpul with get back on the Pmags manufacturing wagon. Impossible to find for a good price.

Just wondering what you mean by compromise. I chose DPMS as the best AR10 within a certain price range. The one I could afford. And parts, upgrades etc. are more available.

Do yourself a favor and stock up on 20rd .308 Pmags while you can. Throw the magazines that come with the rifle in the trash can post haste. Do that and you'll be just fine.

But I will as soon as I can.

Edit: just got 2 more factory 20 round mags. The all shoot with no issues.
