    any form of a *nix distro will solve this problem...I frigg'n hate jaba the hutt and the damn developers who ride in on it.

    I really hate Java. It is IMO the #1 method of inadvertently getting a virus despite taking every other precaution.

    But, but, but, Java was supposed to make everything better, easier, and more compatible! I swear I gotta use the control panel to fixilate different engines for different vendor's software all too often.

    My dad had the same problem a few months ago. His fix was to do a system restore from a 30 day old save and then completely remove Java. He seems to be working okay now.

    I've removed Java and Dell Support as they have been the ongoing problems. We'll see how it goes. The computer restarted two times since I posted this thread. Makes it difficult to leave the computer for more than 45 minutes or so, and come back to what I was doing when it is all gone.

    Usually the task that restarts the computer leaves an entry in the System Event Log. Does anything there give a clue as to what is happening?
