    Oh no problem.

Open up the control panel. Then go to administrative tools, then open up the event viewer.

You'll have the options on the left, open them all up until you find System and then click that.

In the middle/right, you'll see a bunch of event entries. Start going down the list by time until you find something that makes "sense" in the description about the restart. It's kind of educated guesswork but there may be a clue in it. If you're having no luck finding any clues, there's a way to export that log and you could send it to me in email to take a look.

Well, there are a ton of errors throughout the day, but I can't make out what they mean. There are a few "Criticals" and "Warnings" as well. The source of the Critical Power is "Kernal Power (Event ID 41)." The source for the Errors seem to accompany "Ntfs (Event ID 55)," "Service Control Manager Eventlog Provider (Event ID 7000)," "Distributed COM (Event ID10016)," "EventLog (Event ID 6008)."

I don't know what any of that means though.

I had a power supply problem that did the same thing. To low amperage supply for the video card I was running. It did almost the exact same thing.
Swapped out the supply with a bigger one and all fixed.

My car ran outta gas once too, that must be the problem...

An event 41 only means the machine restarted via crash.

Irving you have a couple of options here: Keep asking guys on a gun forum to help with something they dont understand. Get some help from professionals. Or fiddle with it yourself.

I could cut a barrel on my own, but I would rather take it to Bert and have it done properly. Let the bread bakers bake the bread...

I asked to see if it was something I can remedy myself. Sounds like it isn't. Nothing to be upset about.

    It's your fuel filter...

I'm not all that computer savy, just throwing that out there to see if it's a possibility. But yes take it to someone who is knowledgeable in computers.
But if it runs out of gas-check the filters

    OK then Nick Burns.

Irving, if someone hasn't offered already, I'd be glad to help take a look remotely via Webex or Teamviewer. It could be something simple. I'm really a mainframe sorta guy, but not too shabby with little ol PC's when necessary. Send me a PM if you like and we can set something up.

Yeah, the kernel power issue and the fact that it seems to be a hard crash rather than a software directed shutdown does mean... buy one of us computer folks that's local a case of beer. I'm a bit too far away but surely someone is closer to take a quick look.

Looks like it is the Event 41. I think this is what is happening. Is something like this repairabe, or is it time to start shopping?
