Every time I go into Gander I come back out disappointed for one reason or another. I think once in 10 visits (each visit is desperation at the last minute that I need something) I actually find what I need.

Sportsman's Warehouse is much better, imo.

Ten years ago the were a fine store. They had selection, decent prices, and I could get it now. Now selection sucks. Went to buy a hat last spring, all they had was small and medium. Over the years they have less and less stuff. On the up side the isles are super wide, as it looks like they are arranging things to look like they have more than they do. The only down side to Cabella's is now I'll have to pay sales tax on mail order. It'll be worth it. Eff Gander.

But you have to love it when the guy handing you a shotgun is so high he can hardly talk and keeps getting distracted by the shiny guns. You just can't get that kind of service in most stores selling firearms. Not sure if he still works there but he was there on several visits in early 12'.

They have a gunsmith? Never even bothered to look that closely at that in their stores. Couple times in there (Thornton) realized how high priced they are and what really limited stuff they have.

I used to think it was a really cool store, remember when the firearms section was huge and you could touch almost everything (other than handguns and the $3K+) because they weren't behind a counter?

I remember when they had their spear fishing section. I didn't think it would do well in CO but I still wanted to buy a spear gun.

    They've just gone downhill.

Every time I've been in gander, there has been at max 10 people. I can't imagine there business is doing well at that location at least. I bought an M&P compact for $450 and at gander they had one for $850!

Did you just leave ALL your stuff on the counter and walk the hell out?

I haven't given those cork soakers a bit of my money in years. I look forward to the day when they close the doors on that place.

no I had gift cards to burn. that was the only reason I went to that store. I know it is crappy store...but when I have gift cards I will not waste them. still got some primers at least.

update: still nothing from their management or my complaints. maybe they know they are on the way out?
