I'll see this, and hold any criticism until after... but my hopes won't be up, no Sheen and no Swayze, no C. Thomas Howell, no Lea Thompson or Jennifer Gray and Harry Dean Stanton was great as their dad! Won't even touch the original, but could be good as just an action flick... we shall f***ing see (in best Drill Sergeant impression)...

Is this movie ever "really" going to come out? There has been hype for it for about two years now.

Not interested in the remake.

Yeah, it's happening finally. For those that have been keeping an eye on this (raises hand) it was filed three years ago and was originally supposed to be released a couple of summers ago. They had the rights to produce it a few years before that and began casting for it but when MGM filed bankruptcy the rights to this movie got caught up in that. They finally sorted it all so up until recently they couldn't even show trailers to a movie that had been ready for release for years. The funny part is that it will likely help them in the long run. Originally they casted no names for the movie. The main actor when on to play Thor in the movie w/the same name and the new Avengers movie so now he's kind of a big deal. If they were to cast him now it would've cost them probably 10x more. I think the movie actually looks decent and I was a big fan of the first one. I think they captured the spirit if the original movie and I loved the fist one. May not be quite as good as the original (those who expect it to be will be disappointed obviously) but who cares? The idea/plot alone are 4x better than anything else Hollywood is currently putting out so I'll pay to go see it. Even if it's half of the movie as the original it will still be the best movie of the year.
