Question about this "voter intimidation"

So I've already seen tons of coverage on this issue this morning- Black Panthers and such at the polling places of major cities, UN "observers", etc. But really, what are they doing exactly? I mean, you go in, you cast your ballot, you leave. Are they asking "Who are you voting for?" then threatening people if they didn't vote for O? Assaulting people? I didn't see what came of this in '08 (sorry I was too busy gearing up to go to Afghanistan during the election season).

Just wondering, because it would seem to me that there would be mass arrests (or worse) if people were really getting legitimate threats from the BPP.

It's Philly. Intimidation and threats is how it's done.

They're actively and physically throwing out Republican poll workers. This happens every election, and nothing changes. Why should this be any different?

Is a polling place off-limits to CCW? Seems to me that I distinctly remember my buddy Lil' Roscoe went with me when I voted against O the last time. I usually can't remember shit, but I do remember that. Don't recall any "NO CCW" signs anywhere.

Of course, if the polling place was in a school, that's an obvious no-no. But in '08 we voted at The Wildlife Experience in Parker, or Lone Tree, or Centennial, or whatever that friggin' area is considered. Not a school, not a Government building, so fair game for CCW in my book.

Cops are on the city payroll. the higher ups say ignore this don't worry about that they do.
You're dealing with BIG City politics, not the Bailey or Evergreen town council.

i don't really buy voter intimidation. hell if supporters are there trying to intimidate me with their presence that would be all the more reason to vote against them. as long as people aren't actively asking people who they voted for or making threatening comments i couldn't care less.

Tell that to the 85movie year old grandma or the young mother with her kids. Standing outside polling places dressed in all black, dark glasses and a billie club I can see as being quite intimidating.

The New Black Panther people in '08 stood outside of a polling place carrying clubs. They were prosecuted by the Dept of Justice for voter intimidation, the DOJ obtained a default judgment against them with an order against their conduct, and then Eric Holder intervened and got the DOJ attorneys working on the case to go into court and void out their own win.

In Philadelphia, democratic election workers in a score of precincts ejected GOP observers who had a court order to be there. The court has sent sheriffs to enforce the court order.
