While scouting for elk today came across a dead moose. Is there a legal process to "harvest" the rack?

I would think it would be like hitting one with your car, except when you report it you say you found it dead allready.
FHUGETABOUDIT!!!
Call the DOW, tell them what you found, they will come check it out, maybe meet the officer out there to answer any questions. As long as you didn't poach it, I would ask him about the rack and maybe if any meat is salvageable. I highly doubt you would be able to get it though.
The other thing to do would be to wait and let it sit, but you risk animals chewing on it etc.
Being that Moose are relatively small in numbers here, I would let DOW know and ask them first.
^^^^ This! But 9 out of 10 times, you get nothing but a Thanks for reporting it. Have a nice day! We'll take it from here!
It appears to be a fairly fresh kill. Back side has been worked over by the crows and spooked a pack of coyotes 50 yards up the trail so guessing by next week the rack may be all that's your salvageable.
Not sure what # to call. Tried CPW headquarters and the wildlife service center for the area. Recorded message and only open weekdays
Will do Monday. And no. My buddy took his GPS out of his pack to make sure he replaced the batteries an forgot to repack it. But, it is easy to find at the end of a marked trail.
Thanks for the help and advice.
Update: Called local office, definitely wanted to know and took my info for possible follow up call from area game warden
