will do man, how the hell can you tell if the flash hider is permanetly attached? I don't have an upper in front of me to look at, but got 2 ordered and processing as we speak!

Okay, as it turns out, I will NOT be finishing the modified front sight post project. Part of this build requires me to put on a FF handguard, and I can't do that without removing the front sight post. I can't remove the front sight post because the flash hider is welded on.... So it looks like I have to cut the front sight post off to take the existing barrel nut off so I can replace the handguards. This seems cheaper than cutting off the welded flash hider and then repairing and replacing it. Sorry I won't be able to follow through with the pics and the rest of the project.
