Wolf Ammo

I think this was asked before but I can't find it. Wolf (Russian) has 223 Rem for sale for $8 a box of 50 rnds. I am very worried that this ammo is not safe, but I don't know that for a fact. I am always looking for cheap ammo for plinking but want to make sure it doesn't cost me a rifle or worse!

Has anyone had an experience with this ammo, good or bad?

I've shot a couple thousand rounds through mostly my rock river AR15.
Accuracy is good for plinking if you are at or under 100 yards.
I've had maybe 3 or 5 cases get stuck so now I carry a .2" diameter brass rod that I can tap the case out with.
No big deal anymore - just tap it out and keep on shooting.

I have had no other problems with wolf ammo.
I still buy the stuff, but now that I'm reloading, I will hopefully be able to make better ammo for cheaper $

forget the BS myths and bad news shooters. it shoots good and have not had any issues with it in 3 ar's or my bolt action. i'm shooting the grey polymer coated stuff.
oddly enough while some shooters do all but condem it the wolf .22 match is some of the best .22lr out there. go figure ??

Wolf is good ammo, I've had more problems with mil-surp. It isn't the cleanest or most accurate, but for the price, you can't beat it.

I've put about 1500 rounds of the grey polymer through my AR-15 this year. I've had one stuck case and 1 dud where the primer went but it didn't fire.

Like the others have said accuracy isn't great but good enough.

I appreciate all the responses. The reason I asked is because I went to a pistol course about a year ago and was shooting Wolf .40S&W and the instructor about had a cow on the firing line. He went on to "school" me on the dangers of Wolf ammo with the Polymer coating. I had to purchase new ammo that night to finish the course.

I still fire the Wolf for qualification and practice and never have had an issue, but another friend of mine had his AR blow up in his face about a year ago firing "re-manufactured" ammo and told be to stay away from Wolf because of inconsistencies.

Based on what you have told me, I feel pretty comfortable using it. I just orders 500 rounds in a sealed can for $103 from Sportsmansguide.com. That's a little over $4 a box of 20.

Great deal and I don't know how much longer it will last at that price.

wolf is not reman ammo its new mfg. now something like AMERC real shi%^&y reman. that could cause a problem.
as for the instructor............. for range ammo its great, for 3 gun and idpa the same. for carry/defensive wolf as in any other ball ammo isn't advised.

ive used it for plinking... my AR, couple different AK and SKS, even my HK USP likes em.... never had a problem with jamming or duds or any sub par issues with them. Other than my fingers turning colors after loading a couple hundred rounds.... lol
