(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) —

"Gun owners who carry concealed weapons or have confronted another person with a gun are more than twice as likely to drink heavily as people who do not own guns, according to a study by UC Davis researchers. Binge drinking, chronic heavy alcohol use, and drinking and driving were all more common among gun owners generally than among non-owners, even after adjusting for factors such as age, sex, race, and state of residence. But alcohol abuse was most common among firearm owners who participated in gun-related behaviors that carry a risk of violence, which also included having a loaded, unlocked firearm in the home and driving or riding in a vehicle with a loaded firearm."

That's just because lawful gun owners have jobs and can pay for their own alchohol.
They also have a conscience so they must drink to distract them from the BS that occurs in the world every day

Kind of sets a theme to explain why California is often on the verge of bankruptcy.
Perhaps they should be more particular on how they spend their budgets.

I understand that UofCA has lots of revenues from lots of kids who want to get into UofCA, but this study is stupid. They should just allocate their $$$ on Molecular Cellular Science like they did in the past.

I was born in Cali. Own guns and have a ccw and drink maybe only a handfull of times each year (less than 5). This is the dumbest thing I have ever read, I bet they just made it up!

I grew up 8 miles from Davis in a little farm town, but went to Davis a lot for the night life, even lived there a few years. That town is packed anti's that binge drink and drink heavily. As a matter of fact most of the chronic heavy drinkers I know don't have guns because the pawned or otherwise sold them. But what can you expect from a town that spent millions on a tunnel so foods could cross I-80 without being squished? BTW that tunnel got so hot in summer that it fried any frogs that went in it. To bad they have a top notch vet school, and bio-engineering department there, but a cutlass of whack jobs. Oh the stories I could tell!
