    Default 80's Metal

While I’m feeling nostalgic I thought I’d post this video for those that haven’t seen it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_c9OvL_8ESw

No idea what that A-10 went through…… I remember about 13 years ago they played Fiddlers and a Firefighter died saving someone from a flood and they made a donation to the family. No idea why that just came back to me.

Wow, I have no idea who that is. Kind of looks like Dio but it's not him. I'm guessing we listened to different 80's metal.

Depends on how you look at it. I'd say Poison is as much metal as Iron Maiden.

I beg to differ on that one. I don't think Poison would have ever had Accept be the warmup act. Besides, Maiden had Eddie...

Poison was not "Metal", they were more along the "Glam/Hair" Genre like Twisted Sister.

Motorhead, Megadeath, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Death, Meshuggah.
    Now that's metal.

I always thought metal was pretty loosely defined. It seems to include bands from Pantera and Iron Maiden to Tool and Deftones. It damn sure isn't anything like Poison or Bon Jovi.

I struggle with the necessity of labeling sub-genres at all. Ever looked at the list of genres available in iTunes to label your music? Death Metal, Speed Metal, Prog-rock, Indy, Alternative. . . It's still rock and roll to me.

Trash metal (Vektor), black metal (Immortal), grind metal (Cephalic Carnage), doom metal (The Sword), melodic death metal (Older Opeth), experimental (Dream Theater and such), fantasy metal (Dragon Force), etc, etc. Metal is ridiculous. Ridiculously awesome that is.
