I have 4 windowed PMags and a large box of gen 2 non-windowed PMags. I keep the 4 windowed ones loaded up with quality ammo and handy: either in, or near each AR. Otherwise, I have a LA Police Gear B.O.B with 12 loaded PMags filled with milsurp ammo ready to grab and go.

    This poll is really interesting.

I keep hearing from some people about how you can't have enough magazines.
At the same time, I've asked how many mags are appropriate for a handgun and the answer has often been 10.
Yet there are those that stress having many more for the ARs; Is that out of fear of them being banned or just insurance in case SHTF? Probably both.

    I'm kinda in the middle.

Since the "47%er" crew has taken over Colorado I'd say as many as you can reasonably afford.

A few extra springs and followers is always good to think about as well.

I agree with most guys here. If you're on foot, anymore than about 10 or so (for each rifle) is gonna start getting heavy. If you're holed up in a defensive position, you can never have enough. Same concept for ammo. 1k rounds of each caliber is a good minimum for a stockpile, but are you gonna be able to carry that much if you're on the move?

Girlscouts? Hmmm, I don't know... I think it's kinda dangerous to teach young girls self esteem and leadership skills.

I'm at about 15 per AR right now and I actually resisted buying more today.

It's hard though...mags are like gun crack!

I have never worn out or thrown out a pistol magazine, just rebuilt them. Same can not be sadi for AR mags made of polymer or Aluminum. They are desinged to be cheap and disposable, not long lasting. If it was not for the stainless and Lancers, I'd be a tad worried about HB13-1224. No worky mag, no worky rifle.

I would tend to agree with most of the answers I've seen on this thread, I did not vote because there wasn't a choice for my answer.

10 mags for each type of gun you have should be enough, taking into consideration the mobility factor. I also agree on the 1K rd. stockpile per caliber you have. If you're gonna try and hole up somewhere, you really need to have some friends to do it with, and after all, that's part of why we're here together, isn't it?

Like minded folks looking to associate with one another, get to know each other, and possibly being able to count on each other *collectively* if need be sometime. Pipe dream? naw.

My neighbor and I could hold this part of the neighborhood for some time, just between the two of us.....if you have to go mobile for any length of time, then all is lost besides what you can carry with you. Unless you had enough man power to hold the fort while you're out.
