New to the NFA world!! ooohhh the choices!!!

Hello Everyone!
I Just recently set up my trust and I am now pondering my options! been thinking of doing a form 1 for one of my AR lowers for a while, but i also have my Draco that i would looooooovvveeee to put a a stock on as well.... some choices in life are hard. If i had the money i'd just do 'em both, but alas, that is not the case...

With the recent events being taken into account (the abortion of an election we pretended to have) I'm thinking sooner than later would be a good idea!

I'm not asking anyone to make the decision for me, i just want to hear some input on peoples experiences with ar/ak SBRs and have a good discussion!

$400 will get you stamps for both of them. The wait time sucks, as well as the person who does it, to get off their ass and mail the paperwork back to your ffl. My last stamp was approved in oct yet was told they have 30 days after approval to mail out. SO save your pennies and deal with the wait time for 2 vs 1 now & 1 later. If you submit the paperwork before the end of the year figure 4th of july before you're able to go to town on your NFA toys. I'm debating to sbr my draco, slr-106 AK or a SBS mossy.

By SBRing the AR you can put any length barrel in any caliber at any time on it. In other words, the AR offers a lot of versatility for one stamp.

^^^ this^^^ you just cannot permanently change the weapon from what the stamp reads, unless you notify the ATF.

You could have say a 10.5" on the stamp and have a 9mm, 300 black as well as a 14.5 and 7.5 if you wanted it. It's versatile.

I'd do both the AK and an AR lower and don't look back... just think! You'll be two times happier

In my limited experience I have reached the conclusion I can't decide which I like better between the AK or AR. They are both a lot of fun for different reasons. I don't have any practical resons for most of my guns. I make up a lot of impractical reasons for what I have.

Don't forget the Any Other Weapons. The transfer tax is only $5 dollars, not $200. A pistol grip, less than 18 inch barrel shotgun can be a AOW. I think you can get factory Mossberg shotguns that are AOW. Other examples are pen guns or cane guns.

The ATF National Firearms Act Handbook is a real good free information source. It is the official information. It has information in plain language. If you can talk lawyer speak it includes copys of the regulations and laws concerning NFA. You can download it here-

I have a factory mossy 14" AOW. You a private individual cannot build an AOW, these have to be purchased. UNLESS you could get mossberg or remington to sell you a receiver only. You can build a SBS 12 or 20ga. That will be my next shotty project.
Go with an AR lower SBR project so much versatility caliber wise.
