I guess I am a scammer too. I bought a $1200 race tranny off of craigslist for $100. I gave the guy every penny he was asking for his "C4 ford trans with deep aluminum pan." he said he was selling it as a builder core because he didn't know if it was any good. I got it home and took it apart. It had a billet tranbraked valve body, hardened input shaft, Kevlar band and alto red clutches..... The guy offered you a price and you accepted, he is not a scammers at all.

    Huh?!?

JM is exactly right. Seems to me a bit of direct and unvarnished truth is a whole lot better than coddling a victim mentality. JM was not insulting IMO - just direct. OP needs to take it onboard and look at his role in it - not label others as scammers for his own choices.

He never said he got scammed, Armslist said he got scammed. Probably because someone else allowed themselves to fall for the same thing, and came back bitching. I think the OP was just more pissed at himself than anything else for allowing it to happen.

You must have missed his comment in Post # 7 above. Here, I'll make it easy for you to find - copied below:

Sure looks to me like he labeled others as "Scammers" for something that was entirely within his control.

And totally took the blame as my fault for not knowing. As I clearly said, several tikes. And yeah, I think he knew fully well the worth. Is it my fault. Yup.

We can always learn from a bad deal. I agree with most of you - it's a great deal for the buyer, unfortunately bad deal for Jake. I bet the lesson learnt from this worth so much more that that few hundred bucks though.

I'm sory he fucked up, I really am. But it's no one's fault but his own. I'm glad he's manning up though.

He even copied/pasted part of your ad, it looks like. As soon as you posted the guy was a "collector" I knew who you were talking about.

I'm confused too. So if someone sells something at a deep discount and I know it's worth more but don't offer more than he's asking, then I'm doing something ethically wrong? Now if he gave you a line of bs that was untrue to get you to lower the price then I could see the problem. I've undervalued items that I've sold before and it stings but usually I was happy with the sale at the time so no scam.
