    Default 300 AAC Blackout.

Started reloading the AAC tonight. Using VihtaVuori N-110. Nosler 220g SSp. Hunting load. Started at 9.1g will not cycle, went to 9.5g, still won't cycle. Single shot.

I thought, Ok new upper, try factory remington 115g bullet. Shot just fine and dandy. 5 rounds.

Tried 9.7g VV. no such luck. Any one else loading 220 with VV, powder??

Tomorrow I'll try a hotter load, but wondering if it's getting close to defeating the purpose of sub-sonic??

I may switch to H-110 powder and see.

no personal experience but quarterbore.net has had a whole area for Whisper shooters for many years.

I have heard that 9.7 grains of H110 will push a 200 grain bullet at 1030 fps

Where is your gas port? Many 300 Whispers aka 300/223, 300AAC, 300 Blackout have trouble cycling sub-sonic if the gas port is in the carbine location. Most move it to the pistol port location.

The 115's are super sonic. The 220's are sub-sonic. Sounds like you might need to move your gas port if you choose to shoot sub-sonic.
I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.

My dies are in the mail DSB!

i have some 147 grain pull downs for plinking and am thinking about 110 grain vmax or the barnes vor tx for a flannel thin skinned game round. powder from what i have read is h110. I found a link to expanding lead sub bullets that i need to find again.

You just described my exact experience with N-110 and 208 grain a-max. Would not cycle until they were 1200 fps plus. So I tried H-110, and have had better results. It is dirty, but not that bad for the subsonic loads. The N-110 works great for supersonic loads though. I have a load that I am working up with 125 grain Nosler that had a total fps spread of 10 fps, and 4 of the 10 shot string were the exact same velocity per my chronograph. The group was about 1.5 MOA, but I still was impressed with the consistency.

I am going to do some load development with a few powders, but that is going to wait until after archery season.

If you are over 1125-1150 and the gun still does not cycle, open up your gas port or get in touch with Spook. He is a member here and his gunsmithing specializes in stuff like the 300 Whisper and other subsonic wildcats.

I got some Nosler Partition 220 gr SSp to cycle with 9.9g of V V N110. Have to Chrono it and see the Vel.

Last night I loaded some Siera 200 HPBT with 12g V V N110 cycled great, but not sure of the preassure or Vel. at this point. I'll back it down to the almost minum of cycle issue, and chrono it.

Very interested in the N-110 supersonic results...what powder charge range do you recommend for that? Is it comparable to H-110?
