    Default Hot Sulphur Springs

I haven't been there yet, but there is a place just past Hot Sulphur Springs on the north side of Highway 40 just before the town of Pashall. If you Mapquest it and to to aerial view you can see the range just fine. From what the guy at Sportsmans Warehouse says, it is rarely crowded, free, and decent. I can't wait to try it out, but I bet by the time the Thanksgiving hoopla is over it will be too cold for my tastes. I hate when I have to scrape ice off my fingers to shoot....

Has anyone been there who can give me more info? It's not too far away, would be a nice family drive to go sightshooting. I mean sightseeing.

Someone fill in the blanks, please.

    Welcome,

Been there Quite a bit, just not recently. If memory serves it is closed from Nov. 1 through the end of Mar. All the critters hang out there over the winter.

200 Yards with backboards at 25,50,100 and, 200. lanes are far enough apart that unless there is a real idiot out there You don't have to worry too much. There is like 10 or 15 lanes. Most of thge times I have been there, maybe one or two others. I don't think I have seen any more than 3 differant parties there.

From Westminster, it would take Me about 2-2.5 hours, never was rushing though.

One time I was there, A herd of 'Lopes went strolling along the ridgeline just above the range, like nothing was going on.

Sounds nice. How is it setup as far as benches? I assume you can just drive in and pick a lane? Not that it matters much, but how's the road and scenery?

Oh, and thanks a bunch for the info!

They did have benches. And, Yes just drive up and pick one. You can either leave 70 at Empire and take 40 over Berthoud Pass or, take 70 to 9, Go north on 9 to 40 then go east. either way You won't be disappointed with the scenery.
Take a Fly rod with You, the upper Colorado river is on the south side of 40. Shoot in the morning, Fish in the afternoon.

It's a big place. There's separate areas for pistols, rimfires, shotguns, archery, and center-fire rifles, maybe spears and slingshots too. There's a LEO range at the far east end. And there ARE some shooting benches and tables there too, but not a speck of shade. Not sure how well it's enforced, or what fines there may be, but this sign is posted at the entrance. I just shot quick and left, but I haven't called about this yet.
